Hi people!

As many of you may have noticed, I’ve not been posting new content in a while. I had a lot of work during this last couple of months finishing my undergraduate final project. But I finally made it. (Got 19!!!) =)

Now, with a little more time, I wanna tell you all that I will start posting again shortly. Now you ask “Why shortly and not right now?”. That’s one of the good news. This blog will experience a facial reconstruction with a new and more atractive design.

The second notice is that I will post more frequently and about more subjects that I’ve been doing until now.

These changes won’t take long until they’re working properly. So keep your attention on the news. =)

Microsoft DreamSpark

Microsoft DreamSpark is a program launched by Microsoft and it’s all about giving students Microsoft professional-level developer and design tools at no charge.

At this moment this is only available in 11 countries (United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Germany, France, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium) but will soon be available in many more.

All you have to do is:

Sign In with your Windows Live ID.
Get verified as a student. The system is linked to schools and organizations around the world that can confirm student status. Simply choose your country and school, enter your info and hit submit.
Download your products. Now remember these are professional tools. This means they are pretty big files so make sure you have the bandwidth and space to bring them to your machine.

The 3D game you can build with his help is called GuitarMatey and it uses a regular Guitar Hero style controller. The game is built under XNA technology. Johnny Chung Lee is a Ph.D. Graduate Student in Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and he has a website where he posts some videos about new technology that is in research, and also some experiments made by him. This one is about Head Tracking for Desktop Virtual Reality Displays using the Wii Remote. It’s amazing.
